Abstract

When the Göktürks entered the Fetret Period (630 - 680), China's policies towards overthrowing the Turks were influential. The princesses and spies from China acted under the influence of these policies. First of all, he caused fights among the brothers and provoked the tribes which were tied to the Göktürks against the government. China, which caused the division of the Gokturk State, wounds with the wars that are very difficult to compensate. In the Göktürks, there was famine due to disaster. The affiliated groups have ceased to exist and attempted independence. Some tribes also took refuge in China. China, which became an empire during the Tang administration period, realized that the Turks were weak. In accordance with his spreading policies, he has conducted raids on Turkish soil. Göktürks, who had been divided and weak, could not stand any longer against the Chinese. China, firstly, the East Göktürks and then some parts of the Western Göktürks. In order to control the Turks and prevent them from reestablishing the state in these lands, the Vassal Governments established by the Chinese Military Governorship (Garrison) were formed. First of all, he assigned the elders of the Aşina lineage to be the ruler. Gentlemen who refused to live in captivity attempted rebellion; but the liberation from captivity has been with Kutluk Kağan. In this study, the reasons leading to the Göktürks Fetret Period and the Military governorates established by China in Turkish territory were discussed.
