Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the postgraduate thesis done with geography teachers in Turkey. The research was applied in accordance with the survey model. The data were collected by document analysis method. The data were subjected to descriptive analysis. The research is limited to the works in Turkish language, conducted on geography teachers in Turkey, recorded in council of Higher Education thesis center with open access conducted between March 2020-August 2020. Within the framework of these limitations, a total of 80 theses, 12 of are PhD, 68 of which are at the master's level have been determined as the documents in which the research data are collected. Thesis were examined in terms of purpose, method, numerical and geographical size of the sample / study group and the data collection tools used. The data were applied to descriptive analysis with the data collection tool developed in Excel software by the researchers. According to the results of the research, most of the professional or personal characteristics of the geography teacher were examined in the theses. In the second, the geography course curriculum was determined as the research theme. Survey method was mostly used in thesis studies. Questionnaires were mostly used as a data collection tool in theses. It was observed that the sample / study group of most of the examined theses consisted of 100 or less teachers. In most of the thesis studies, it was concluded that the data were collected from geography teachers working in a province.
