Küreselleşme Ve Teknolojik Gelişmelerin Öğretim Süreçleri Üzerindeki Etkisine İlişkin Öğretmen Görüşlerinin İncelenmesi (The Evaluation of Teachers’ Views on the Effects of Globalization and Technological Developments on the Teaching Processes)

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of glabolization and technological developments on teaching processes according to teacher’s views working at secondary schools. The study has utilized the design of “Case Study” which is one of the qualitative research designs. The study group of the research is composed of 15 teachers working at secondary schools in the center of Bartın province and selected by convenient sampling method. Data is collected through semi-structured interview form prepared by the researcher after having taken specialists’ opinions. Collected data is analyzed by NVIVO programme using descriptive analysis method. The study result shows that globalization and the rapid developments in technology bring both positive and negative effects on the teaching processes. According to the result of the study, one of the positive effects of globalization and technological developments is the increase in students’ understandings. However, technology is not used adequately and properly in teaching processes and it causes some problems to both students and teachers. Specially, that the students’ level of information literacy is low and that their acceptance of any information reached by the internet without questioning are considered as a big problem by the teachers. In this context, some suggestions are put forward to improve the curriculum.
