Abstract

In this study, it is aimed to search the dimensions of the effect of managerial style on teachers' happiness in educational institutions. One of the important findings being obtained in this survey is that the occurrence of negative emotions can be reduced with the increase of education level. As a result of this information, we can conclude that it is important to encourage teachers' postgraduate education opportunities. What’s more, another remarkable finding that emerged in the study is that teachers' perception of job-oriented perception increases with the increase of working time in the institution. However, this result has caused teachers' managerial style perceptions to be under one roof or in other words one dimension which means that the manager is equally job and human oriented in the institution from the perspective of teachers and there is no clear distinction. As a consequence of this information, it is seen that there is a significant relationship between the managerial style and the happiness of teachers in educational institutions when regarding the main starting point of the study. In this context, the factors affecting organizational happiness have been examined in terms of job and human orientation, which are two sub-dimensions of managerial style.

In the research, relational survey model was used. The research population consists of 584 teachers working in state pre-school, primary, secondary and high schools in Kula district of Manisa province in 2019-2020 academic years. The sample of the study consists of 362 teachers working in Kula district of Manisa. In the study, easily accessible sampling method was used. In this study, ‘Organizational Happiness Scale' which was originally developed by Demo and Paschoal (2013) and adapted to Turkish by Arslan and Polat (2018) to determine the level of organizational happiness of teachers and ‘School Manager Working Style Determination Scale’ developed by Yücel and Demirhan (2010) to determine the managerial style perception levels of teachers were used. In the analysis of the data, percentage, arithmetic mean, frequency, standard deviation values were calculated; t-Test, one-way analysis of variance and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Analysis were used. In demographic features gender, age, marital status, professional branch, professional service period, working time in school and education level have been taken into account. Whether there are significant differences between the factors affecting organizational happiness and demographic features, and also differences between organizational happiness level and managerial style perception have been statistically analyzed.
