Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the distributions and orientations of national studies on multicultural science education. A Systematic literature review model was used. The inclusion criteria were identified. The study sample consists of 96 publications. The study used purposive sampling, a non-random sampling method. The researchers prepared a document analysis table as a data collection tool. Descriptive statistical methods and content analysis were applied as data analysis methods. The findings and results of the descriptive statistics analysis show that the number of studies is insufficient. In the studies, mainly special education students, science teachers and documents are utilised. The qualitative model and methods are predominant as the research model and methods.  The findings and results of the content analysis also show that although teachers, pre-service teachers and students have positive affective characteristics in this regard, they are not at the appropriate level in terms of competence. The education system, curriculum and materials are not at an adequate level in terms of multiculturalism. More strategies and methods in science lessons should be investigated in this regard. More reviews, systematic reviews and theoretical research should be carried out on this subject.
