Abstract

The financial services industry is undergoing one of the most profound transformations in the history of modern banking and Financial Technologies (FinTech) is the main driver of this process. This study focuses on FinTech leadership and examines the main characteristics that differentiate FinTech leadership from conventional leadership approaches and in which dimensions this differentiation emerges, and how the multidimensional nature of FinTech leadership affects leadership processes and which leadership competencies are required in this context. In the study, the narrative literature review method was used to develop a conceptual framework of FinTech leadership, which was analyzed holistically. The findings indicate that FinTech leadership is shaped around dimensions such as hybrid industry structure, technological and regulatory complexity, and multi-stakeholder ecosystem management. It also reveals that FinTech leaders have to manage not only intra-organizational transformation but also cross-sector adaptation and multi-stakeholder relationships, and that the five core competencies required for FinTech leadership are: integrated strategic vision and value creation, agility and uncertainty management, ecosystem leadership and collaborative competition, balancing innovation and regulatory compliance, and building stakeholder trust through transparency. The study provides a holistic framework to conceptualize FinTech leadership in the national literature and to reveal its different aspects from traditional leadership approaches and aims to make significant contributions to both theoretical literature and practice.
